All Trussed-Up and Nowhere to Go
From the party ‘born to rule’
For a long time, I’ve been heartily sick of the urban myth that is passed off as fact, that the Tories are the only safe pair of hands for the British economy. When Labour was ousted from power and a coalition led by Arch-Tory, David Cameron, and heir to a wallpaper fortune, George Osborne, took over, they immediately condemned their predecessors for trashing the economy. This allowed them the necessary smokescreen for instigating the ideologically driven austerity measures that heralded a generation of poverty and privation for the working classes that included the wanton sabotage of our public services. But it was based on a lie. The economy was bled dry from the global financial crash of 2008 and the necessary government bailouts to morally undeserving bankers to prevent a fiscal Armageddon. Socialism for the rich as it was called. The Labour Government were forced to react to a global economic catastrophe. But, of course, the Tories weren’t about to blame the true wreckers: the avaricious bankers, the subprime mortgage services in the US. No, not while you had the exiting Labour Government as a convenient whipping boy. But many voters seemed too willing to believe the old lie that Labour can’t be trusted with taxpayer money.
