I agree with your comments, Gemma. Most people who write fiction don’t do so to make a ton of money. It is an art form. They are responding to a need to be creative. Of course, having a wide readership and achieving financial rewards is all good. I’m certainly not knocking it. But it’s not the primary reason for most creative writers to do what they do. Not even close. If you just want to make money there are far more easier ways. Creative writing is about something else entirely.
