Most of what follows is fiction…

It was the season of murders. And his busiest time of year.

The heat was driving people crazy: neighbour killing neighbour, brother against brother, random strangers slitting throats over some taxi fare. The reasons were limitless yet they were all driven mad by the unremitting heat, and all the silliness never ceased to amaze him.

And it was all down to Brahma. He narrowed his eyes to shield them from the glare. Forget the heat for one moment. Do not be fooled. It was his Lord and Master, the Cosmic Creator, who was really to blame. The Buck stopped with him. Brahma was responsible for creating such a messed-up world. He had ordered Buck to stop following him and covertly arranged for his final passing. But it was no use. The Buck stayed put. It was going nowhere.

As a result, his boss was only worshipped at six temples in the whole of India. Not a resounding endorsement of his godly efforts. He’d been rumbled a long time ago. It was no more than he deserved. As a consequence, Brahma had retired to his bed grumbling about the ingratitude of his worshippers, which didn’t really amount to a whole lot according to reliable evidence.
