No doubt BF had much time to commit to this lifestyle because he had slaves to do all the other work for him - work that was perhaps less enlightening. He built his fortune on the institution of slavery - which should be at the top of his so-called ‘virtues.’ A few months before his death he recanted and spoke out against the evils of slavery but it hardly undoes all the suffering he supported and profited from throughout the majority of his life.
