Rob You With A Fountain Pen

In Talkin Bout New York, Bob Dylan states some people will rob you with a fountain pen. If anything, it seems even more relevant now as it was then. But it’s always been there.
It’s as old as business itself. People will either rob you directly, using old fashioned violence and intimidation or it with the stroke of ink on paper, or these days, perhaps, by a slight of hand across the keyboard. In the past few days, I’m been given examples of both.
A few days ago Laura went to our local Coop and got caught in a criminal raid.
As she was perusing the cold store counters she was violently pushed to one side. She turned to angrily remonstrate with her antagonist but found herself confronting a tall imposing guy, dressed in black, wearing a ‘tactical’ belt and masked to conceal his identity. Clearly he was not to be messed with. Two others of similar dress were loitering nearby, with one guarding the entrance to the shop.
The one who had pushed Laura aside, produced this enormous black hold-all and proceeded to scoop all the contents from the cold food counter into the bag. Once the bag was stuffed full, he strode confidently out of the shop with his accomplices. The whole thing was executed with a quasi-military swagger. For those few…
