Self-Publishing Without Tears
Well, maybe a few
I am writing this to try and order my own thinking around the thorny subject of self-publishing. Do you or don’t you? Which way is forward? Indeed where is up and where is down?
But before all that, I first want to take my hats off to the UK distance learning platform called Centre of Excellence. Trustpilot seem to agree and have awarded them full stars.
My initial plan was to indulge myself in history subjects. But then my adult brain took over when I saw a course on self-publishing. Without much enthusiasm I knew this was something I needed to educate myself about. However, I was enthusiastic about the price. The course, alongside many others, was reduced from £140 to roughly 30 quid. There was no excuse but to do go ahead and do it.
I have just completed the first module on the basics of self-publishing and started on ‘completing the text’ which is all about editing etc.
Why do I feel it so necessary to do this course?
The road has been long and torturous, but I’ll keep it brief. A few months ago I completed my historical novel, sweating one hundred thousand words onto a word document. Or at least I thought I had completed it. Of late, I have become uncertain but, like an errant mule, I’m still baulking at the thought of returning to…
