The racism is institutionalised in such media outlets hence no one is pulled up or challenged. Perhaps it is not wholly unconscious but it is so ingrained within the sub-culture it remains below a certain level of awareness that would invite comment. Though it is about time that such offensive and ill informed comments from the mainstream media were robustly challenged - that is, assuming the presence of more enlightened colleagues.
