This is happening because the rest of us are not paying attention. In the words of Roger Waters, we have amused ourselves to death.

It is a tragedy how the social media and the online community has cheered us on, placing us in this position of bovine entertainment. Where the ordinary person becomes dizzy by the constant bombardment of misinformation so no one knows what’s up and what’s down. And we remain in a trance, transfixed, staring slack jawed at our bright and colourful screens.

And this is all to the advantage of the plutocracies who work on a global level, creating scapegoats from the most vulnerable. Like magicians they are masters of distraction. They tell us to look over there while they plunder what is in front of us, like cheap pickpocketers.

The digital world has helped to lessen our ability for sustained concentration. We live in a world of two minute distractions, quickly and idly scrolling down to the next fix. We have unwittingly reengineered our brains to resist deep dives…
