This is Beyond Shocking
The treatment of a journalist in the UK should concern us all
This interview speaks for itself. I have little else to add.
It concerns the treatment by the police of journalist, Sarah Wilkinson, arrested on ‘terrorism’ charges, Thursday, 29th August, and now out on bail. Her circumstances seem to amount to virtual house arrest.
Self-described as pro-Palestinian, she has dedicated her time to reporting the daily atrocities occurring in Gaza. Her reportage is simply to describe what is happening, day by day, as factually and accurately as possible.
Yet she has been arrested in a manner that has been overtly brutal and appears downright criminal. The law inforcers involved seem to emulate a fascist type of snatch squad, no better that a bunch of thugs in balaclavas.
I have little to add except my shock and disgust, as well as incomprehension, that this can happen in the UK today. I have no answers, no clever analysis about what has occurred. All I bring is an inchoate outrage. How can this happen?
If anything, I come from the Left of politics but, maybe, this is a taste of Starmer’s vision for a more authoritarian Britain. I don’t know.
